5 years of helping our community land sustainable employment and develop professional skills.
Unemployment has been a problem in Georgetown for several years. In response to the high unemployment rate, Friendship Place started a job-training program to provide inflation-proof, recession-proof, job opportunities, with potential for upward mobility, for the unemployed and the under-employed of Georgetown.
Georgetown LIVES works to end the cycle of poverty in our community by helping neighbors penetrate and navigate the workforce. The program has helped over 50 people find employment and more than 70% are still employed today!

How it works
Georgetown WORKS is not simply a job placement service. It offers a holistic approach to eliminating poverty by providing job readiness training and ongoing employment counseling. Rather than assisting struggling families to continue as the working poor, we will offer employment and life skills training to help them reach economic self-sufficiency through employment.
Career Readiness
Participants receive the practical knowledge and transferrable skills needed to work in the field they desire.
Career Search
An employment coach guides participants with everything from resume writing to competitive interview techniques.
Employment & Retention
Personal guidance to help employees maintain their job over a sustained period of time.
Financial Coaching
We also help instill critical budgeting behaviors that’ll position participants for long-term financial stability.
Career Advancement
We help participants obtain experiences and reach achievements that lead to future aspirations.
