Job Training Program
Friendship Place currently offers scholarships to the Certified Nursing Assistant program at Horry-Georgetown Technical College. We screen our applicants to be sure that they are ready, willing, and capable of making changes in their life so that they can take the steps needed to move themselves and their families out of poverty.
We are actively working on finding new opportunities within the community for our clients.
How to Apply for the Scholarship Program:
In order to become involved with our Job Training Program, students must attend an info session at Friendship Place on designated dates. These will be announced about a month prior. At these sessions, information will be provided about other programs available in the community. Applications for each program will be provided at this time. The following week, serious applicants will be required to attend an orientation where they will submit their applications, completed essay answering one of the questions listed on the application, a letter of recommendation, resume or resume-builder worksheet, and a copy each of their photo ID, birth certificate, Social Security card, and high school diploma or GED. At this orientation, students will get more in-depth information about the Workforce Investment Act (WIA), Project HOPE, and Vocational Rehabilitation programs. There will be mock interviews and possible barriers to training and employment will be addressed.
