Job Training Program
The job training program is designed to assist the unemployed and under-employed in attaining full time employment. We are currently focusing our efforts in the field of nursing by providing scholarships for the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) class. With this program, we provide books, tuition, uniforms, individualized tutoring and any needed medical equipment to ensure that the students are more than qualified to pass their state certification exam.
We are in the process of expanding this program to unskilled positions and exploring training for new career paths.
Because of the high demand for CNAs, those who became certified through our training have a very good chance of becoming employed quickly. Now, we are looking to replicate our training techniques in other fields of high demand. We are researching what employers are seeking, and are working to provide employees with those skills. We are seeking career paths that allow advancement, so the clients will not become the working poor, but members of the middle class. We also encourage clients to pursue the programs through Project Hope, Vocational Rehabilitation, and the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) through SC Works, to see if they qualify. Should they qualify, they will receive that training, but continue to receive support and guidance from Friendship Place.
